Coming February 15, 2016, the novella Route 12 is set in Virginia and Tennessee in the 1970s. The book is a wonderful, poetic take on the devastating effects of trauma and abandonment on a couple of special teenagers who have a tragic, inevitable meeting. The book is spare, tightly written, and never, ever sentimental — just the way we like it here at All Due Respect Books. Plus, there is plenty of crime and just the worst kind of human behavior. You know, the fun stuff.
Also included in the volume is a second novella Blood and Sin, set in North Carolina in 1964. Like Route 12, it is lovely, poetic, and truly shocking in it’s depiction of just how horribly humans will sometimes treat each other. There is a reverend named Pastor Friend who breathes hate for women while pretending to help. And there is a nearly invisible woman named Naomi, and she ultimately comes into complete focus at the hands of Ms. Miles. Read it, you’ll thank us.
